Although stainless steel is known for no rusting, it is not permanently rust. To provide the best corrosion protection, all of our stainless steel hardware is pickled and passivated under the production procedure request before delivery to market. The fact is that not any supplier can 100% promise that their stainless steel(SS304/SS316) products never rust . There are several main reasons why stainless steel still get rusty ?
- Low chromium content:Stainless steel with low chromium content has a fragile passivation film and i easily damaged in harsh environment.
- Corrosive media:Long term exposure to acids, alkalis and salts enviroments can damage the passivation film of stainless steel, leading to rusting of the stainless steel.
- Humid environment:In damp and poorly ventilated areas, the surface of stainless steel will absorbmoisture and polluatants, leading to electrochemiacl corrosion.
- Surface damage:The surface of stainless steel is scratched and worn, and the exposed metal is prone to react with external substances, causing stainless steel to rust.
- Surface-attached contaminants: Oil stains, dust, and other pollutants adhering to the shurface of stainless steel will be cleaned up in a timely manner, which will cause localized rusting of the stainless steel.
In short, stainless steel is not really rust. Daily attention should be paid to maintenance for avoiding scratches on the surface of stainless steel, regular clean and protecting is required also, which can reduce rusting of stainless steel maximumly, also can keep the shining glorry surface.
Hiever uses high grade qualified stainless material to ensure the strong corrosion resistance of hardware and parts from the source! If you pay attention to cleaning and maintenance, our stainless marine grade hardware will not let you dissapointed!
